Back again, on day 3 of the plan……
Yesterday didn’t go entirely to plan, hubby reminded me that college don’t have an area for you to eat your own food (canteen sells food but don’t let you eat your own) so I toddled off without my diet chef supplies and decided to try and make ‘wise selections’ from the menu…… As it happened as it was half term, although our class was still on the canteen was closed, so with 10 minutes to spare I grabbed a bacon roll (which my calorie counting book assured me was just over 200 calories - 2 slices of grilled bacon (66 cals)and a white roll (134 cals)).
At lunchtime I nipped out and bought a Turkey Salad in a Rotherham Cafe (which I worked out came in at approx 350 cals). I munched on the Berry Nakd bar on the way home (again - Yum) and for dinner last night had the Beef in Porter with cabbage, green beans and brocolli. Just under 1200 calories for the day.
Today I have been back in the office so had the Granola for breakfast again (but instead of milk had 100g 0% Fat Greek Yoghurt - 55 cals worth) - what a lovely breakfast that was with a handful of grapes again. Mushroom stroganoff for lunch which frankly looked dreadful in the tub but more than makes up for it with the delicious taste……. Warning though - I brushed my teeth mid afternoon as I developed a complex about ‘Garlic breath’!!
An apple mid afternoon and a Banana bread Nakd bar on the way home - I’ve not had one of these yet that I don’t like.
Finally for dinner this evening I had (or should I say intended to have) steamed Leeks, Brocolli and Green beans with the Haddock Pottage…….(I wasn’t looking forward to this as I’m not really a fan of fish but waste not, want not). I steamed the veg, and after marking the calorific content of the haddock pottage down in my food diary, tore open the edges of the pack in front of the microwave, nuked it and poured it over my veg…… Only to discover that I had somehow nuked Pea & Ham Soup and poured that over my veg instead of the Haddock Pottage (which was still next to the food diary on my coffee table). Could I be more dizzy today if I tried?? The only saving grace in this scenario is that it tasted delicious - You didn’t think I’d waste the Pea & Ham soup did you?
So - todays calorie count stands at a (foolish) 1086 calories (would have been over 1150 if I’d had the meal I intended to).
Anyway - I have ordered my next 4 weeks worth of food which has some different items to those I already have (such as venison sausages and the cheese & red pepper soup) so I’m really looking forward to the coming weeks.
Thanks for the comments posted after Day 1 - All the best to other Diet Chef dieters!!
Andrea
hi Andrea, love to hear how you are getting on as i am on day 2 and felt i was the only person on this diet as there appears to be no one else on the forums. Please keep posting. i agree with you about the mushroom strog. really delicious and i’m having the haddock pie tonight. Are you going to let us know any weight loss at the end of the week or do you weight yourself daily or monthly? Stick with it and i’ll try and do the same. Beverley
I’m planning to log my weight loss every Monday (seems to be the logical day of the week to do the checks) so watch out for that. It will mean that I’ll be logging my first weeks losses after 6 days instead of 7 days, however Monday just makes more sense to me somehow (start of a new week maybe)…..
I’ve had the Goats Cheese and Red Pepper soup for lunch today - again - YUMM… And I hope I’ve saved the best until last - I’ll be munching on a Choco Loco bar this afternoon as I embark on the long drive home from Hull (work) to Doncaster (Head Office then home).
Loving this so far…..all the best to you too Beverley.
Andrea
I’m just on day 1 so it’s good to talk with others trying this out. Over the last 2 years I’ve lost six stone and recently put 2 back on. i don’t want to go back to what I ddid before and this looked like a simple option as the provision of the packs means I don’t have to think about it too much. this morning I weighed the granola what a little amount it looked, but mixed with milk and a pear it was really filling and I was fine until a late lunch with an apple as a mid morning snack to keep me going. Luch was the beef and tomoatoe soup Very spicy and tasty and so thick! I had some fruit and yogurt for afters. Mid afternoon had the Bannana bar I though the taste a bit strange but it was sweet and this evening I tucked into the meatballs, soe new potatoes and a heap of veg. yummy and I feel really full. All in all a filling food day and still very reasonable re calories. i think I can stick this for a few weeks.
Hi Harri, welcome onboad. Im only on day 3 this morning so i’m no expert, but it really helps to post something on as it keeps you focused. good luck and let us know how you are doing. nb beware the haddock pie— yul. has anyone else tried it– my poor dog wouldnt even eat it. What does anyone think?? beverley
Hi all well I am on day three and so far so good. Loved the beef and tomoto spicy soup, not so much the goats cheese and red pepper. Tasted a bit sharp to me. Looking forward to Parsnip today. The granola is heaven but perhaps too nice. I had an extra 25 grams before bed yesterday! But when I added it to my calorie intake it was still good for the day, and as I am a weigh everyay sort of woman I was still pleased to see some weight off in two days. The chilli was really tasty and I had a small portion of bamati and wild rice (low GI)180 cals and a large portion of brocolli and I was really satisfied. I’m not keen on the bars so fr but they do take an age to nibble through and provide a sweet boost. Well I’m off for a walk now so have a good one everyone
Hi Andrea et al,
I found this site by accident - I lost 9 stone about three years ago on lighterlife, but sadly have put it all back on again. I was looking for (yet) another diet and came across this. It looked great value and a brilliant idea. I have read (devoured) your blog and the replies, and as a result I have just ordered a 28 day hamper. I think the concept of not having to cook the meals will go a long way to keeping me focused. Thank you all for your comments, other peoples experiences are the only way that people like me can be encouraged - particularly as I had never heard of Diet Chef before.
Hi
Like others, I am an ex lighter lifer and after one week of Diet Chef I have reached the point of eating less but not feeling hungry. The choice of foods is great, but lunchtime can be a problem. I work in an office without a microwave so no opportunity to heat anything. Generally I opt to buy a salad from Boots to eat with my snack bar. Any chance of cold lunch option?
Hi Wendy
I have the same problem about taking food to work without a microwave - but have worked around it by buying a wide mouthed thermos flask (£9.99 from Argos) and heating the soup before I go to work and it stayed hot. The flask is just the right size for the soup. Hope that helps.
